Great place to chart your own path

Pros

The firm has a strong entrepreneurial spirit - that gives consultants opportunity to chart their career paths and pursue their interests. While work-life balance is a challenge (the nature of the business). Leadership has done a lot to recognize this challenge and to create a variety of programs to alleviate work-life balance issues and to help people who want to stay in consulting manage different stages of their life and career.

Cons

The change in leadership a few years back resulted in some unwelcome changes in comp and performance management, which was a misstep, which has fortunately largely been addressed. But there is still progress to be made on compensation. The work does tend towards more operational / cost oriented work - and many consultants sometimes feel stuck in this. But - there are ample opportunities to work on interesting topics and projects - the onus falls on the consultants to build their network and to find / get the opportunities that they want.

Pros

Good at procurement and sourcing...not much else.

Cons

Avoid this firm like plague if you are an experienced hire. Zero initiation/training with over zealous/ pre-disposed current employees looking to further their careers by putting others down.

Pros

I've worked with some of the brightest people I've ever met at A.T. Kearney. You're placed in an environment where you will have to learn quickly on your own or through a peer as there are very little formal training available.

Cons

Compensation as well as the firm's culture has shifted in 2014. New senior management brought on a new pay structure after the 2013 year ended in early 2014 and implemented it for the year of 2013 without giving prior knowledge to the employees. Many people were left confused and angry by his pay structure that only acknowledged a certain few. Imagine working a full year and to later find out that the bonus structure changed after the fact and ending up getting a 0% bonus. Some employees are overworked while others aren't utilized at all creating an environment where people burn out or are forced to leave.
