Thank you for your very honest feedback. As much as we’re disappointed to hear about the negative experience you had with us, it is helpful to understand the variety of perspectives that make up the overall experience. We strive to always offer competitive wage and benefits for our Grand Performers. We thank you for bringing these issues to our attention.

Pros

Hourly staff and some lower management was nice. That is it for Pros

Cons

The purpose of this review is to give fair warning to potential candidates for food and beverage. This is by far the most unprofessional operation that I have ever encountered. They will hire you for a certain position and a certain shift, only to then surprise you with different positions and shifts, but Only After you have completed orientation and first week of training. At this point you will have already invested time and energy into the job, and might feel trapped. It does not matter what you list as your availability or what position you apply for, they will shove you Wherever they choose. If you question it, you will be told you need to be "flexible." While the hourly staff is all nice and welcoming, most of the upper managers are just flat not interested and they have a buddy system in place with one another. They were embarrassingly unprofessional, displayed anger management issues and emotional instability, and would disappear during peak hours. Servers beware, this Grand Bohemian does not allow automatic gratuity for parties. The guests even receive vouchers for free or discounted meals from the hotel which state on the voucher that gratuity is included, yet the hotel/restaurant does not allow it to be added. This is just one of many forms of deception you will encounter at this location. If you are thinking gratuity probably won't be needed because it is in Mountain Brook, unfortunately you will be disappointed because clientele is questionable and this was also surprising to me. Also, this hotel has no GM and has not had one for a while. This was the first red flag. Apparently this location has a difficult time keeping managers and staff. After my horrible experience with this very troubled location I am no longer surprised. Finally, benefits are some of the most expensive I have ever seen, and the coverage is not even good. These disappointments were back to back to back, once I was out of orientation. If you are looking for professionalism this place will not meet the standards. I would not recommend this location to an enemy. Seriously, it's bad.

Pros

Marriott discounts and a handful of honest co-workers.

Cons

The Sales organization is led by intimidation. National Sales is limited and ineffective. They laid off the hard-working representatives but kept the weakest link and promoted her to Vice President. Success is measured inconsistently. Some salespeople provide numbers and analysis while others provide unsupported stories. The organization is not well-respected in the industry.
