Basically being a Teller

Pros

The systems are generally user-friendly, and the company provides adequate training.

Cons

I expected to focus on helping clients reach their financial goals and providing tailored product solutions. In reality, the job has turned out to be mostly teller transactions and managing difficult interactions — often with unhoused or aggressive individuals, especially in a city like Seattle. It’s far from what I imagined. Advancement is heavily tied to meeting aggressive sales goals, and without hitting those targets, moving into a different role is nearly impossible. The role isn’t aligned with what I thought a career in banking would be.

Pros

Key bank is very client experience and community oriented. I have also had the personal experience and witnessed others have the same experience of Keybank encouraging growth, learning and promotion to a new role in your career path when you show the initiative and put forth the energy!

Cons

Constantly changing incentive metrics, even doing so mid year. Also changing how certain aspects of how certain incentive categories work making it difficult to keep up at times and adjust.

Pros

No need to be in an office to do the job. Almost 0 collaboration with other colleagues.

Cons

Monotonous, mindless, depressing. An everyday realization that you could have saved thousands of dollars not going to school and working the same job. Whatever the job description says, know this: you are applying to become a customer service rep in a (1-800) call center.
