Pros

Company is growing quickly and only recruits from within, so constantly more and more positions opening up for progression. One if the highest per head sales in the industry so salary will always outpace competitors. Exciting, fast paced, collaborative working culture that is completely unique in our industry. Get to sell the best, cutting edge products in the industry rather than the me too products of most of our competition. Work in high spec offices with other team members twice a week, this removes the lone ranger sales roles that most of our competitors and field sales jobs entail, this allows everyone to constantly learn from other people and develop their own skills, you cannot achieve this with the home based roles else where.

Cons

Hard working culture, if you don't want to work hard and get results, sales probably isnt for you. We work hard so we can get the best results and constantly outpace our competition

Pros

Like every other review will tell you, it's the money. The money isn't amazing per se, but 95% of new hires are fresh out of college where ~60k+ your first year seems like the lottery. Good entry level job to build your resume and get basic sales experience. The people, actually very very cool to work with. There's a sense you're all in this painful ride together.

Cons

Ironically, the money is why most people don't leave sooner. It takes a few years for recruiters to start really going after you, so for most new hires with staggering student debt in a destroyed entry level job market, Keyence feels like a life raft. You don't really want to be there, but you don't really have a choice. The activity system will burn you out. No matter if you live in a dense multi-million person metropolitan area, or Iowa, you're expected to hit the same metrics. For some divisions that literally means 60+ sales calls a month. That's right, 60 meetings every single month. As you're required to be in on Monday + Friday, expect to have 6-8 meetings A DAY Tues-Thurs. In remote territories you can tack on 1-5 hours of driving after your sales calls too. Speaking of all that driving, Keyence remains one of the very few large outside sales firms to not offer a vehicle. If you plan on having a nice car, you'll be underwater on it in no time. In my first year and a half I put 50k miles on my car, and that was in a territory not considered a "traveling" territory. Monday Friday is call center day. How else are you going to book your 8-15 meetings for that week? Want to take some vacation? No problem! You still need to hit not only your sales goal, but activity goals as well. In your review every quarter if you don't hit these numbers, it will affect you, and you will not get promoted. Your manager will tell you to make up the gap next month when you're not taking vacation, so if you thought 40-60 meetings a month was tough buckle up.

Pros

Money, people you work with, good sales experience

Cons

pretty much everything else. -no career growth. Your title and salary will change but you will be doing the same job the whole time. So 5 years in you're still doing the same job as the new guy. -work constantly 65 hours a week - so many goals to hit and most of them are unatainable. Soon there will be a goal for how many bathroom breaks your are allowed to take. -you will be required to make 60-80 phone calls (90% cold calls) a day. Most sales rep are constantly calling the same contact at the company which is extremely annoying. -When you ask your manager for advice all they can say is make more phone calls. There is no strategy in this company. Japan tells the managers what to do and they tell us. Managers are basically well paid translators. -let's give them a bit more credit, managers are also very good at micro managing. Checking your cell phones to see where you are, 2 meeting a day to remind you to hit goal. You ask them how and they have no idea. - the working hours feel like you're back in elementary school. The bell rings at 8 am and 5 pm. If you get there after 8am or leave before 5pm you will get in trouble. Even thought you got home at 10 pm the night before you are required to be at the office for 8 am sharp. In summary you are just a number to Keyence. People that work there for a long time leave the company and realized they haven't learnt anything and hence you are stuck in sales your whole life. Most of the employees are engineers but get treated like crap.
