Pros

Coworkers offer excellent patient care and rehabilitation.

Cons

Kindred Healthcare only cares for their profits as they cut pay by 10% for essential healthcare workers who continue to risk our health during this pandemic. This company does not give annual reviews or raises. Kindred healthcare is a shamefully greedy company that should be exposed for their lack of morals or empathy as they continue to treat me like a number instead of a HERO who should recieve hazard pay during this crisis.

As we navigate COVID-19, we are grateful for our team members who care for our patients and support one another. We are taking these temporary, although difficult, measures in our RehabCare business. This is a difficult and unprecedented time for all of us at RehabCare and across the country. Pros

- Great team of therapists at my facility - Flexible scheduling - Somewhat flexible PTO - Company reimburses for some supplies and CE

Cons

- Management completely out of touch with the day-to-day operations and conflicts being a therapist in a SNF/LTC facility -Productivity trumps promoting quality care at the end of the day. Regular mandatory "inservices" on ethical practice, yet the company doesn't practice what they preach. Point-of-care documentation? Not feasible for quality, patient-centered treatment. -Post-PDPM, company pushes for group treatments - Red flag! - Sub-par health benefits package - Company let go of majority of PRN staff, instructs full-time staff to drive an upwards of 2 hours to other facilities that need help when that facility's census gets high. - Upper management implements new policies, middle management and the therapists finally get the memo 2 weeks to months later. - Do I even need to mention CEO's multi-million salary when the company has had a "wage freeze" in place for the treating therapists for at least 2 years? Many of my coworkers haven't had a single raise in 5 years. If you threaten to leave, if you are LUCKY you may get a marginal one. - No performance reviews. - Therapists putting in their two weeks notice, then middle management groveling on their knees and offering significant raises in response. And then they want to ask how your non-existent performance review went....

Pros

You could probably murder someone at Kindred and not have any consequences. If you (as a patient) want to suffer or be neglected, go to Kindred because that is inevitable. Seriously. You are better off at home in the care of your 3 year old kid. Pay is good. Always opportunity because of the constant turnover. Nice sign-on bonus.

Cons

High acuity patients. Nurse to patient ratio is too high. Bad management. Very high staff turnover. A core group of employees who bully the rest of the staff and have set their own rules/regulations for Kindred. No accountability or consequences. Nurses who are so overwhelmed they have given up: they just sit at the nurses station and play on their phones. Or leave the facility to go to starbucks. Meds don't get passed. Some days there are no Techs on the floor.
