Pros

Great benefits and compensation, wide variety of work available, dedicated colleagues (for the most part).

Cons

Managers hoard information, often resulting in extensive re-work, and folks who come with fresh ideas are often shunned. New managers are not provided adequate training on how to lead people, and change overall does not come easy. The county also does not follow its own sexual harassment investigation policy, even if you bring it up with the head of the HR delivery division. I reported harassment and was eventually pushed out because of it.

Pros

Benefits. If you are in the right group, your career will grow.

Cons

Management in IT keep on calling for a reorg. In the last 5 years, I have been in 3. If you are not known by SR. Mgmt, you will be left behind in a group that only care is their bottom line. Keeping you in a position, because "you would leave behind too big of a hole when you leave". Applying for internal jobs always said no, even though I knew the job role. Managers can get promoted, but not full time employees. This creates 2 classes of people IMO.
