Pros

Working in the Budget Office is great. There is a collegial atmosphere where people work together and you have access and collaboration with management. There are also opportunities to speak directly to the County Executive and provide some insights to help him make decisions. This is the equivalent of speaking directly to a CEO of a major corporation, which is an invaluable experience. The work is engaging and there are always projects to help further develop skills in areas such as project management, facilitation, change management, and Lean principles.

Cons

Lots of meetings. Most of these meetings end up being discussions rather than work sessions so it makes it difficult to work on actual projects.
