Sadly, my relationship with Kite/Gilead came to an abrupt closed a month ago due to the most heart breaking and unjust reason:
Backstory: I worked in the document center where there was no distinction to whether one can bring in food/water in place of operation. The location is not considered any form of ISO and it is shrouded from the ongoing construction just outside the door. We were allowed water/candies/snacks/food bags. Everyone brings in food (lunch bags or sealed container) into the room for storage or to give to another co-worker.
Finale: I was terminated because I brought in a sealed container for a co-worker. At the very most, give me the first and final warning. Everyone of my peers and myself included were blind sided by management decision.
I understand that this is an 'at-will' employment, and unfair termination is not illegal. Management has made the decision on exercising that "Right" to terminate me because I "brought" in food for a co-worker. I was torn for a couple weeks at raking my brain to understand why I was treated in that heart breaking manner.
Management throws farewell parties to peers who have moved onto another role or company. But the way I was let go was not only unjust, but cold and unwanted. The only comfort I had was my caring and understanding peers who always were there for me whenever I needed emotional support.
I am grateful to be given this first time treatment of the true reality of life in the cooperate world. Thank you.
