      Pros

      Kitware offers all the usual benefits (health care, vision, dental, short / long term disability and life insurance, 401(K) with company matching contribution, FSA, 6+ weeks paid time off, etc.), plus you get to work on some great projects that really make an impact in the world (and most of Kitware's work is released as part of one of their popular open source platforms such as CMake, VTK, ParaView, ITK, or Slicer).

      Cons

      You need to be motivated / self-directed to succeed at Kitware.

      I enjoyed my job very much, and was able to work pretty independently. The work was always interesting and challenging.

      Pros

      Great job workplace, professional, yet compassionate. Tons of opportunity for the energetic engineer. Senior Management and Engineers worked shoulder to shoulder. Always open for new, good ideas.

      Cons

      Workload was always cyclical, with high peaks being difficult to manage. Company growing pains were apparent while the company was increasing by 50% each year.
