Pros

Some fun projects and some great coworkers.

Cons

Leadership shutting down conversation about benefit cuts was the moment the culture died for me. People were having an open discussion in an off topic channel, asking questions and sharing feelings about benefit cuts that had been shared in a poorly worded email 2 days before taking effect. None of the comments crossed the line or were in any way unprofessional. They were discussions about benefits and work conditions, but because there was a layer of negativity (as there would be with any TC cut) leadership got uncomfortable and went to peoples managers to stop the conversation. Over my time here there have been a lot of decisions I disagreed with, but could live with and commit to. This is different, for the first time I am ashamed to work here.

Confusing company struggling with it's own growth

Pros

Responsible financial management. Good growth story. Very flexible product that can be sold to fuel future growth.

Cons

It's a company that is struggling with it's own identity. It wants to be a startup. But, it is at a different stage. It want's to be a grown up company. But, it doesn't act like one. It wants to be a tech giant. But, it doesn't know how to get there. It wants to operate by certain values. But, it doesn't operate by it's own values. It wants to deliver client value. But, it doesn't have the processes and organizational structure to do what it states it wants to do. It wants to be a company where all people can thrive. But, it is basically creating an assembly line of interchangeable parts. It's an up-or-out culture where people are constantly being demanded to do more now. Senior management doesn't listen to what is preventing faster movement. Middle management just wants to be in the good graces of senior management. It's a meat grinder. If you thrive in environments like that where people are climbing on top of each other, this place is for you. But, it's a company that is lying to itself.

Pros

Free books. Fun teammates. Unlimited PTO

Cons

As a company who has a “transparency” core value, the politics are as opaque as you can get. After a round of layoffs earlier in the year, we were told explicitly by the ceo that there would not be anymore, along with incessant messaging of being financially healthy. Fast forward three months, and 10% of the company was laid off? With no answers as to why? In a disorganized, “duck duck goose” style, where random ppl from each team were let go? How about cutting some of the bs incentives or not giving LAUGHABLE raises to overworked ppl that honestly felt like a slap in the face. A lot of putting band-aids on gunshot wounds. People are being blatantly lied to and lured into a false sense of security so klaviyo can take advantage of their talents and hard work and give them the boot after they’ve used them up.
