Pros

Fun building a team of part-timers, few full-timers, different backgrounds, experience etc. Easy to beat credit goals, fun to beat customer service scores.

Cons

After having spent 10+ years at another big box retailer, was surprised and confused at the micro-managing of the DM. For example blow out a credit acquisition goal on a Saturday but get a call Monday not congratulating on performance, but asking about why PT associate (always anonymous) called DM because they had to work recovery for an hour after store closed. Completely unprofessional.

Pros

The management team I worked with was superb. They really wanted to help me learn the in's and out's, which I am very thankful for. There was also great support by upper-management. I was able to meet and network with many people within the company. The internship was very well-structured, yet allowed me to work at my own pace. The respect level is high within the store and at events outside of the store. The company offers events to the interns which definitely helped me develop better networking skills, as well as helped me understand where Kohl's is positioned now and where it is heading in the future.

Cons

The hours can be somewhat rigorous if you are not used to working in a retail environment. However, I will say that the rewards are worth it. You learn a lot about your work ethic and integrity as an employee. Also, right away there is a lot to learn and you don't feel as if you are making much of a difference. Just give it some time and you will know the ropes and be able to contribute!
