Pros

People at Konrad Group are definitely the smartest people I have worked with. They understand technology and you will never feel like the smartest person in the room. Most of the employee are really nice and helpful. Good work culture if you are young. Monthly Socials, weekly lunches. Beer on tap and a lot of snacks to munch on. Lots of other social fun activities like Scotch nights, Board game nights etc. If you are just starting your career, it's a really good place to learn a lot and have fun.

Cons

All the good is un-done by an unexperienced and immature management. For a company with around 200 employees, there is no proper HR to take your issues to. It's a very top down, one directional management style. They do start you with 4 week (20 days) vacation, but that includes sick days and compulsory Christmas shutdown, so you are getting a net of 12-13 vacation days. Employees come to work when they are sick to save vacation days and make other employees sick. There is no work from home. No formal career development plan, it all depends on how active your manager is. Work hours are 9-6, so work-life balance is not that great, especially for people with families. The culture can feel very frat-house-ish sometimes.

Pros

Great people and beautiful office space

Cons

This company is a confusing place to work - on the one hand its a millennial run company, with old school management styles. There is no work from home policy and no flexible hours - lunch is from 12-1 pm. While there are extra perks like parties and snacks, many employees would rather have the flexibility to live their lives. The biggest concern I have is probably that there is widespread unhappiness with this way of culture but there seems to be no change. This suggests that people feel unsafe expressing their wants / or they have tried and been told no. I'm not sure why the hours at 9-6 as well. Most people are young and don't have families which means that the company lacks diversity of age. It makes it almost impossible to imagine staying in the company as we transition into the next phase of our lives. If we live even half hour or more away we're home at 7pm - flexibility will be key once people start having children or other obligations. It also lacks diversity of activity/perk - there are games in the office but if you are different, or appreciate space and quiet time for thinking, in this environment, there's probably not a perk for you.

Nepotism at its worst.

Pros

It's in the heart of downtown Toronto in the swanky King West neighbourhood. Snacks, Foosball, Board games, Ski Trips and Poker nights are among the normal fare. Great restaurants nearby and Friday lunches are nice to have. Business hours are also from 10 to 6 which is great for not having to deal with heavy subway traffic.

Cons

Lots of broken promises, and favouritism towards employees who like to get drunk after work and hang out on the weekends. Not everyone has the time nor interest in doing so, but not doing so will paint you in a bad light. Many who have departed either by their own volition or by management have complained about favoritism. Perks consists of great benefits, device plans, and a 5 week vacation. Five weeks is great but what they don't tell you is that personal and sick days are also included in this batch. If you're looking for a company where you are measured by your performance, this isn't your company and you won't be satisfied. You'll also be expected to work weekends for free.
