Pros

Working at KG has been a great experience. The people here are amazing and really make you feel welcome from the moment you start. We have great benefits, free lunches on Fridays, competitive salaries, lots to do around the office if you need to take a break and a great office culture. I'm very happy took the job at KG and haven't looked back at all!

Cons

If I had to pick a con it would be that the company is still learning how to handle working from home and needs to be more flexible on the 9-6 workday requirement especially for those with young families.

Potential to be great, but just not there yet

Pros

- Opportunity to work with leading and innovative organizations - Incredibly intelligent and talented engineers - Monthly power hours help employees improve on existing skill-sets and learn new best practices - Monthly socials that bring together sister companies and provide opportunities to interact with others who aren't typically on your projects - Catered Friday lunches - Stocked kitchen with snacks, drinks, and beer

Cons

- Code reviews are non-existent. - An organization of this size that completely fails its employees by not being openly transparent about the direction of the business, goals, and any day-to-day information that is critical to the success of a project. For example, anyone who leaves the company is immediately walked out the door and they take with them a body of knowledge that the company expects the immediate team to fill and reorganize without much leadership and guidance. - You are never informed about who leaves the company until you check the company directory. Management is extremely tight lipped about it across the business. It's the first place I've ever worked where an email is not sent out to the company. - HR does not exist at this company with 3 offices and > 200+ staff. If you have concerns or problems, there is no one in the organization you can approach where you can expect to be taken seriously and have your concerns actioned and escalated. - VPs and Technical leads are too focused on the day-to-day project success that there isn't opportunity for them to lead and provide mentorship for the team - Reviews are adhoc and never scheduled. You typically have to ask for a review as TDs typically forgets - Business hours are 10- 6. This is not sustainable as many of us are starting to have children - Culture is defined by how many beer kegs, ping pong tables, parties, and video games they have. If you are expecting a culture where you are supported, safe, mentored , and can grow, your expectations don't line up with the culture

Trending in a poor direction

Pros

- Surrounded by smart coworkers who can answer almost any question and are very open to mentoring - Great access to technology - The team events while few and far between are fun, and the dwindling culture still produces some great lifelong relationships.

Cons

The culture has been spiralling downwards for 2+ years. Small things start to add up (removing a day of free lunch, removing snacks in the office, forcing more people to come into the office, axing many team events and budgets, altering pay bands/scale, etc. ) while the senior leadership spends tens of thousands+ on big dinners, trips to "the island", and retreats for those in the boy's club. The work is also extremely boring and unengaging most of the time, with fewer and fewer actually interesting projects.
