Pros

As a result of the consulting nature of Duff and Phelps, employees are able to gain a high degree of visability within numerous industries and business models. Although the work product is often ultimately very similar to the previous engagement, the different business models and industries keep things interesting. As a young public company, Duff and Phelps is still establishing its corporate culture and continues to roll out new programs in order to effectively communicate and utilize its resources. With twenty plus offices the company does have a decentralized feel to it. Generally your specific office does things in its own way; however d&p is working to improve this.

Cons

work levels are highly correlated to M&A markets resulting in a variable work load.

Pros

Coworkers. Great working atmosphere where most people become your friends. Pay is decent and everyone is quite open and understanding with everyone else.

Cons

Hours can be pretty grueling at times. Very up and down as sometimes you won't see your friends/family for a few weeks then have the ability to leave at 5 for a while.

Pros

Duff has a much more relaxed work environment than many other middle market and bulge bracket investment banks. There is no face time requirement at the company. If work is completely on time and in an efficient and high quality manner, there is no expectation that people will stay until the most senior person leaves the office.

Cons

The company has limited name recognition which may be a detriment to resumes. Many people associate Duff with accounting related services and do not realize that investment banking is even a service we offer. Additionally, compensation could be more in line with other middle market investment banks in order to recruit the best talent possible.
