Don't Plan on Having a Career Here

Pros

Skilled, intelligent colleagues. Assignments can be intellectually challenging. Good place to acquire experience early in your career. Early career people can find good mentors....but the pool of good mentors is shrinking.

Cons

Employee benefits used to be a company strength. They've been hollowed out to the point where they no longer provide any incentive to choose LMI over other employers. Health care insurer is United Healthcare, the company who has the answer to all your healthcare needs. That answer is, "No." Very significant gap in compensation between execs and the rest of the company. It's not a coincidence that executive compensation has surged while employee benefits have been cut. If you're not effectively 100% billable, you're out of a job. Better to work for LMI as an independent consultant than as an employee. That way you have a fallback position when your project ends. If you're not early in your career, you shouldn't look for any job security. Company strategy has changed from that of being expert advisors to providing Butts in Seats at federal agencies. Just another Beltway Bandit. Institutional knowledge is quickly shrinking as long-term employees bail out.

Pros

Good benefits compared to other companies and knowledgeable staff.

Cons

Poor management, benefits have been downgraded. Initially, the company would put 12% into your 401k, now it has been decreased to 7%, which is still better than most companies offer. The company culture has shifted from retaining highly skilled and educated staff, to more of a chop shop to acquire lower cost employees to compete in winning contracts. Management has not been as supportive in recent years.
