Pros

A salary. The work itself is not difficult. There are loads of good, kind people trying to their jobs.

Cons

Given how dysfunctional LSEG is, it's a feat that we still have any shareholders with confidence. With the excess of fiefdoms, constant obfuscation, a revolving door at the most senior levels, and an increasingly rude / sniping culture, it feels like the company is yet another fugazi in a long list of illustrious precursors like Enron, Theranos, WeWork, and Wirecard. The firm is long overdue for a good, hard look from an activist investor — unfortunately, it might be the only thing that could actually implement effective, lasting change (transformation and change are already championed at LSEG, but are executed so illogically and haphazardly that 'constant change' is a running joke internally). If we have to undergo pain, it might as well be useful pain. A few plagues upon our houses: - HR is basically useless in moments of need (and oftentimes is the most cutthroat or inappropriate). I also could not name or explain the team's structure, vision, leadership, place in the company, etc. if my life depended on it, and would be surprised if anyone could. - A massive dissonance between stated 'values' and the actual business. LSEG is all for EDI...unless it could upset the politicians that we lobby. LSEG is all about integrity...unless it means being openly honest with employees. LSEG is all about partnership...but it's each man for himself. LSEG is all about accountability...unless it means acknowledging troubling issues. - Each role is different, but I had zero onboarding, team integration, getting caught up to speed — even when asked repeatedly for help, it will fall to the individual employee to identify their role's stakeholders, find virtual trainings, navigate the labyrinthian company, etc. Feels like being set up to fail. This is a trend and has led to massive burnout, true talent leaving or disengaging, and a general air of confusion among employees. - Day to day work is sometimes made impossible by our self-imposed "solutions." Tech is whack and crashes are constant. On top of that, there's not even job security! Quarterly layoffs and constant rearranging / offshoring make this possible. It's a poisonous environment — avoid touching with a 10 foot pole if you have literally any other option.

Pros

Health Benefits are solid. There were some travel opportunities that I’m very grateful for. Offices are clean and nice for the most part.

Cons

There was so much potential for the Fort Mill shop when I joined, so I’m disappointed in how everything turned out. I can’t speak for the whole office, but turnover appears generally high across the board. The Index teams are worked to a point of absurdity that almost can’t be exaggerated. It’s not unusual to show up to work at 8am and have to stay until 2am. Been there, did it, have the t-shirt. No overtime pay, dinner isn’t usually expensed, and there’s no telling when you’ll leave. This lack of a work/life balance would almost make sense if you’re making money, but these insane hours were expected of the Index teams on a laughable salary. My team started with nine people, seven quit within the year. Everyone was miserable, but they’ve all leveraged the experience to move on to other solid, career-building positions in finance at banks and firms that actually value their employees. Most people don’t last a year here, not because they can’t hack it, but because they aren’t idiots. The one golden nugget in this whole debacle is that LSEG has some brand recognition and the experience is valuable...so everyone leverages both to get on with the real financial institutions in Charlotte (five minutes down the road) that are literally doubling the salaries offered at LSEG in Fort Mill. They are simply training the next crop of associates for the big institutions itching to hire the next kid who knows how to process a reverse stock split and knows how to do a basic V-Lookup. The entry-level positions at LSEG typically pay 10-20k less than entry level level positions in Charlotte. Let’s be honest. 😂 With that said...I’m grateful for the experience, because without it I wouldn’t be where I am. I’d recommend this company if you desperately need experience in financial services, are single with no family responsibilities, are willing to unnecessarily grind to the death, and have low financial expectations.

Pros

-Substantial PTO -Good benefits (401k, health care, fitness subsidy) -Kind coworkers -Local management attempts to advocate for employees - they cultivate a culture of working hard and maintaining high standards for quality. The local managers and team members make this company much better than it would otherwise be.

Cons

-Poor office morale -Poor work/life balance -Poor resources -Outdated technology -Understaffed -Poor administrative organization (very limited access to HR/payroll) -Limited ability to effect positive change -Slow to implement procedural enhancements -Little to no opportunity for growth -Compensation is below industry standard -Company values cheap labor over retaining current employees -Decisions from HQ have little consideration for non-London offices -Company makes it very clear that they see employees as disposable
