Pros

They provide excellent benefits, including health, retirement, and more. The college atmosphere is fun, especially during football season when the Tigers are doing well.

Cons

It can seem a bit bureaucratic at times. Currently, there is a partial hiring freeze and there has been a freeze on raises for a couple of years now due to state budgets cuts.

Great support for work / life balance, great education options (you can work on grad degrees for free), very laid back environment

Cons

Most mnagers in IT are lifers with no real perspective outside of higher ed; non-existant performance management and completely arbitrary review system
