The school was completely outdated, and whoever thought an "open floor plan" was a good idea never worked in childcare. It was always incredibly loud because there were no walls or doors on the classrooms except for the infant and toddler rooms. It was impossible to teach or have the younger kids nap because you were always hearing everything that was happening in everyone's class. The teachers were responsible for cleaning every day but were supposed to do it while they were taking care of kids, so it always looked dirty and the bathrooms were always nasty and smelled too high heaven. There were never enough teachers, so it wasn't uncommon for the manager to pull teachers to other classes and move kids around constantly to make the proper teacher/child ratio. It was chaos constantly. teachers never stayed for very long, and it was easy to see why, they were expected to do the job of 5 people with a smile, and were paid $8.25 hr and told to take 1 hr lunch breaks, even though there was no employee break room. We were also supposed to maintain our CPR/FirstAid certifications but had to pay for them out of pocket. Classes for those certifications are hundreds of dollars and that is a lot to ask for someone making minimum wage. Overall a terrible experience.
