Pros

The company has embraced technology at all levels and makes a very concentrated effort to seek out the latest technologies and practices. There is a very real culture of professionalism and constant learning, and the company invests heavily in helping developers evolve and hone their craft (internal/external training, r&d projects, books, etc). Hard work is definitely noticed, recognized and rewarded. Great work-life balance, I've never had to worry about having to leave early or making an appointment, and management is really understanding when it comes to tending to family matters.

Cons

Paid holidays and vacation days are on the low side of the IT industry standard, but on-par with food distribution industry. The IT department is relatively small so there is no clear path to a traditional management position, which may or may not be an issue since, again, you are definitely compensated for the work you put in.

Pros

You finally have a job.

Cons

I was discriminated against as a male. Turnover for those in my role was terrible, and management sought every way to cover up why people left. Management was manipulative and never cared about you, hence why my manager could never learn my name. You are basically customer service, and the sales team will dump responsibilities on you to where you have to call the client and you can't uphold their order. So yea, it's a job, not a career.

A good place to work for the pay

Pros

The pros are that they typically pay above average compared to the rest of the state/city. For my specific field at least. They do have a on staff medical site which is good as they can provide you with medical care for cheap and can even write you subscriptions. The people who work there are great, and everyone is kind and you can tell if they have stayed love their jobs.

Cons

The cons are...well the benefits. Besides the medical clinic, you only get 6 holiday days, and after 1 year, 1 week off. Then 2 weeks after 2 years, and then 3 weeks after.... 10 WEEKS! They don't encourage a work from home culture or even if you finish early you can leave early. They want everyone (office) from at least 8-5, 5 days a week. No matter what! However depending on manager it can be nice. Dress code, all guys have to wear white button ups with slacks. Everyone gets cubicles for the most part..
