Pros

The pay is good. If you do a good job, you will be noticed. Lots of cool, fun, intelligent people. My boss is fair. Very stable company. Every year we grow in sales and hire more employees than quit.

Cons

The general tone (not every single detail) of first 3 reviews are is accurate. The culture is very uptight and out-of-touch with modern times. The dress code is long-sleeve white shirts and ties for guys. Certain people in power can be unnecessarily condescending and rude, which adds to the feeling that we are viewed as children. To be fair, most managers (especially the CEO) are nice and approachable. Employee turnover is high, especially considering the state of the economy. Vacation & holidays is a joke. The first year, we get 5 holidays and 0 vacation. We max out at 5 holidays and 15 vacation days during our 11th year. It takes TEN YEARS to reach a max of only 20 days. Everyone I know who works an 8-5 job outside Labatt reached or exceeded that during their first year or two. This policy leaves people feeling burnt out and increases the negative attitude that puts a damper on everything else. Most importantly, it feels like no one listens to or cares about our opinions. I've heard many people say they've voiced concerns to management only to be told things like "you're not the first person to complain but we're not going to do anything about it," "we don't see a problem," "that's not the real issue" and "you should focus on X instead of being so negative."

Dead End Job

Pros

The salary is ok and the benefits are good. There are also a lot of nice co workers, most are unhappy so we all "feel each other's pain".

Cons

Where to begin...My biggest complaint is most departments do not have levels of management. Therefore if you aspire to advance in your career, that is not possible here. What you do on your first day will basically be the same thing you will be doing 15 years from now. The only people with any tenure at Labatt are people with old school ways of thinking. The majority of new hires leave within a few years. Management (and by management I mean the GM of the company) treats employees as children...He will stand in the parking lot and watch what time people come into work. If he is in the office it is a very uptight uncomfortable atmosphere. Men have to always wear a white shirt and tie...those who wear a different color are considered rebels here!

Pros

...? Met some very nice co-workers. I suppose discounts on over-priced food product can be considered a pro as well?

Cons

I challenge you to find more arrogance, nepotism, and hypocrisy in a single company. Any training/professional development received while at this establishment can be found, used, on amazon.com. Any career advancement can be found, at thrice the pace, at another company. Please, don't waste your time here.
