Pros

* Some departments have very supportive chairs, collegial faculty, and a wonderful, equitable departmental culture. * Students are generally very bright and motivated. * Some research funding is available to contingent faculty, and more substantial funding is available to tenure line faculty. * Competitive salary and benefits amongst small liberal arts colleges. * Beautiful campus and facilities. * Support for faculty's continuing development as educators in the form of grants and workshops. * Faculty has freedom to design courses around their research. * The new president is putting in excellent work on improving conditions for faculty and students.

Cons

* Some departments need to work more on creating a more welcoming, equitable work culture for diverse faculty. * Upper administration sometimes seems to be at odds with what department chairs, faculty, and students want and need - increases to class sizes and less diverse administration than a year ago. * The college desperately needs to hire academic advisors, deans, tutors, and counselors to support students and faculty. * STEM faculty and students are shown favoritism in funding, increases to tenure line positions, priority to determine scheduling for courses, ability to ask for more required courses for their majors than other departments, and other resources, to the point where humanities, social sciences, and arts programs struggle to enroll students and attract majors. * No kosher kitchens on campus for students or faculty with religious dietary restrictions.

Pros

Great compensation, fulfilling work, management is so bad at making hiring decisions that they can't afford to fire even a bad RA.

Cons

Incompetent superiors potentially. Really depends who you end up with as a boss. I would say only one of them is good. The rest are very intrusive, punish you for reporting information, actually got into trouble for taking actions to defend the community against someone who was being accused by many people of multiple sexual assaults, clearly don't read the reports they require you to send them.
