Pros

Excellent benefits package, BUT base salary not competitive with surrounding clinics Can be a good place to work depending upon local management and stability of clinic

Cons

Parastaff (CVTs, CSRs) are not adequately compensated or supported and turnover is very high. Corporation is NOT prepared to offer appropriate guidance to clinics that need it; is best suited to purchase clinics that are operating well and allow them to continue to do so. Longevity is not rewarded and new employees will receive higher pay than long-term employees. In my community, Lakefield purchased two struggling clinics. When the clinics were not successful/growing as expected, one was closed and the other had 50% of doctors laid off. The closed clinic staff was given 2 weeks notice before they closed. The second clinic laid off the doctors on the spot and they were immediately terminated, as in they didn't have a job the next day. If the corporation/clinic is struggling, there is NO consideration for employees as individuals and they can be laid off with zero warning. Some shady business practices: Upon contract renegotiation, will try to slip in lower benefits without explicitly stating so. Several doctors were fooled into accepting lower pay on new contracts without realizing it (ex. lower production % not pointed out when offering higher base salary, which then results in overall lower pay). Culture and values are great in theory, but not actually implemented in my community.

Thank you for sharing your feedback. We’re glad to hear your team is committed to quality medicine and that there are small touches that support the day-to-day experience. We also recognize the challenges that can come with a high caseload and a growing hospital. Training and development are important priorities, and we are continuing to build more consistent opportunities for team members. Your suggestions around additional support, structured training, and tools to help manage patient volume are appreciated as we continue to evolve and strengthen our operations.

Pros

Being part of a larger group gives us more purchasing power to access better benefits than we ever had as an independent clinic. It also gives us access to a support network of professionals in HR, Marketing, and Finance to help us make informed decisions. That has been great!

Cons

Being part of a larger group does not allow for as much independence and innovation.
