Pros

For someone starting out and looking to build experience, this is a good, solid company with a good reputation which offers a compact, yet comprehensive training program. The company tries to foster a community spirit among the interpreters.

Cons

At all times you are a very small cog in a large machine. You can feel disposable and replaceable at times and management is not always very responsive to feedback. Considering the complexity of some of the cases and the high quality expected, the hourly rate could be much higher.

Thank you for taking the time to write a review. We appreciate hearing about your personal experience and are happy to learn that for the most part you enjoy taking calls for us. As a “Great Place to Work” we really care about our interpreters and are continuously working on improvements to make taking calls for us even better. We have many other resources including a team of managers available to support and help our interpreters grow and be successful. Please note: we regularly review industry compensation. If you have any further feedback to share please email us at interpretercommunications@languageline.com.

Disappointment

Pros

You can't list work from home as a Pro anymore, since a lot of business operate from home nowadays. So no Pros.

Cons

With each year it's been getting worse and worse. You are not appreciated but they demand a lot from you. They do not give any increase in pay, but actually cut it upon first opportunity. Run away from them, fast. Not professional and do not treat interpreters well.

We understand that occasionally we miss the mark. We value the feedback and appreciate you taking the time to let us know there is room for improvement. We employ nearly 13,000 interpreters in 240 languages. After doing an extensive evaluation of our benefits in comparison to other employers in our business, we find that our compensation and benefits while not above average, are consistent with the industry. Please note: we regularly review industry compensation. We wish you well in your future endeavors.
