Pros

I've been working with LanguageLine Solutions for more than 5 years now. It's a convenient work from home job with flexible schedule. Full-time interpreters can earn accrued vacation paid and sick paid based on duration of work they contribute to the company versus part-time interpreters earn no benefits.

Cons

The hourly rate for full-time interpreters is very low compare to daily high volume calls. Full-time interpreters receive high volume calls (back-to-back calls) everyday which is very overwhelming that drains their energies out and stressful. In general, calls will not be routed to part-time interpreters, unless all full-time interpreters lines are busy. Health, dental, vision benefits are not provided. All employees need to purchase them on their own.

Pros

WFH, decent training for the most part (though the trainers did not show up on time on three different occasions, we had to wait for an hour). The interpreting work itself is great for myself, I am learning a lot and have a sense of being useful, needed, helpful.

Cons

Low pay, subpar benefits, no federal holidays, non-transparent communication, punitive environment, cheap computers, Internet explorer is the choice of a browser in 2023, they can cancel your scheduled work the last minute (so you can't plan ahead and you do not get paid once they cancel your shift), the reimbursements differ amongst the interpreters, so any talk about the wages is strongly discouraged on their internal chat platform, and on and on.

Pros

Great company to get your feet wet in Project Management. Good 1-2 year commitment for your resume.

Cons

Little direction from management. Little room for growth. No cost of living increase, but your insurance benefits seem to increase meaning you are making less each year.

Pros

Stable source of income, remote

Cons

No communication from management/supervisor, I worked as a remote interpreter for 2 years and I didn't even know who my supervisor is. No good medical benefits. NO paid sick-leave or vacation time. No sense that you are part of a team, It was a very robotic work experience. I got covid and was unable to work for 2 weeks and nobody from the company even contacted me to checkup or inquire my health, after my sick time was over, it was business as usual.

WORST JOB ON THE PLANET

Recommend

Business Outlook

Pros

Nothing is positive about this company.

Cons

Everything is wrong with this company. The workload is mentally exhausting, with back to back calls, even on a holiday! You have to always be professional, provide the best customer service. You need to study tons of terminology outside of your shift time. The pay never increases even if you perform well. The IT department is a joke, those clowns will occasionally lock your account for no reason. This company pays near minimum wage and almost no benefits! If you expect this much for your employees, you need to compensate them better!

LanguageLine is an Award-Winning communications company enabled by technology. We are human at our core and our linguists are our heartbeat. They meet the industry’s highest standards, earning the privilege to interpret or translate for our clients and the communities they serve. Furthermore, LLS uses a strict standard of call handling protocol that has been refined over the past 41 years and has been evaluated and validated by numerous outside agencies. It is unfortunate you did not find the support you needed available. We wish you well in your future endeavors.

Pros

Provided training, small support money for study. Co-workers. My coach is pretty nice(depending on the language). Wfh

Cons

The company is so cheap, being stuck at home. Low quality interpretation due to low pay. Low quality training, some rude clients think we are interpreting robots. Cheap labor> quality service. The benefits are ridiculous.
