Pros

Benefits!!! (Medical, Dental, Vision options are great! Annual education stipend is fantastic! In-office lunches!)

Cons

There is a level of being on the "in" crowd to receive rewards. They tell you they want experience coming in or when looking for promotions, but people with little to no experience are rewarded with roles and promotions. They speak of transparency, but there really isn't much of it. Culture and Values doesn't apply to everyone, then again, it's probably difficult to encompass. Having a lot of open roles isn't always a sign of growth.

Pros

The LaunchDarkly team is one of the most talented in the industry. They know their stuff and are also genuinely good people. 95% of my coworkers are absolutely awesome human beings. The product is excellent and it's very easy to speak to customers about it with conviction. Work life balance is very good, all of my managers have actively recommended that I take PTO at times. This might depend on what team you are on though. The work is mostly very interesting. LaunchDarkly is a category creator in the feature management space, so there are a lot of unsolved (and even undiscovered) problems to work on. They are trying to grow into a more mature org, so there has been a bit more focus on process and operationalizing things, but there are still a lot of ways to challenge yourself.

Cons

There is a lot of disorganization. Some of it is due to being a smaller and younger company, but some is also due to leadership. There are a lot of initiatives going on and I think they could be more cohesive. It often feels like we are all working toward something different. There has been a big shift in culture since Dan joined as CEO. A lot of it is welcome changes that we have needed for a long time. Other parts are not as welcome - there seems to be more of a mindset that revenue is all that matters. Many employees have gotten screwed over either by being laid off or just having their teams pushed to the margins while others play a bigger role in the new strategy. Everything is driven by marketing. Some might not see this as a bad thing, but for a developer focused product I feel that engineering and other technical teams should at least be consulted for major campaigns. There have been a few times when specific wording was not technically accurate, and this could easily be avoided by working together. The comp system is pretty opaque and it is hard to get straight answers. They adjust salary bands based on the market, so people can find themselves in situations where they were up for a raise, then the bands get changed so they're outside the top range and will never get paid more. This actively incentivizes people to leave because they're losing money by staying. The workload is becoming ridiculous and unmanageable. People keep leaving, and leadership expects the same output (or more). This in turn leads to low morale because it's hard to be proud of work that you know you had to rush.

Pros

Was an amazing place to work until Dan Rogers had his run through. Thankfully he just left, so maybe the founder can turn the culture around.

Cons

They are asking engineers to onboard new teams in India during off-hours. Completely lost.
