Pros

The saving grace was having great coworkers. Staff members worked well together and helped each other so we could give our patients and families the best care possible.

Cons

Really, the list could go on ad infinitum. Employees in every department that provides patient care are overworked, underpaid, under or unappreciated, and abused in various and multiple ways. It was a good place to work years ago, but since there's no longer any local competition they can get away with treating employees poorly.

Pros

Decent, clean work environment. Medical supplies/resources are usually stocked and available.

Cons

Poor staffing ratios, lazy, rude, and incompetent new hires that manage to slip through the cracks, an abundance of travelers and staffing nurses who are paid more but somehow do less work than the core staff, pay stays the same while job responsibilities continue to increase.

Pros

Great team of sonographers; everyone worked together to try to keep the ship from sinking every day. Little to no drama among techs which was very refreshing.

Cons

(Review is specifically for Gulf Coast Medical Center.) Management is terrible. Cardiovascular managers are former techs but with less experience than most techs there and unqualified techs get promoted or get supervisory positions created for them. Favoritism is evident. Management doesn't listen to techs or care about what would actually make the department better and rarely pitch in to help. The study list is constantly growing and unattainable but all they do is complain about it and be passive aggressive about it not getting done or try to demand you work more hours to get it done while they leave and go home. There is rarely, if ever, time for breaks, even micro breaks. Good luck getting time off, even if you have the PTO.
