Determined using publicly available data from the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS), the Leapfrog Hospital Survey, and secondary data sources such as the American Hospital Association’s Annual Survey and IT Supplement, hospitals receive a consumer-friendly composite score that equates to an A, B, C, D or F letter grade. Only the top 32% of hospitals in the nation earn scores high enough to receive the prestigious A grade.
