For a defense firm, they do their best to keep their people on through contract changes. It doesn't always work out, of course, but if you are a valuable employee, they try.
Cons
Heavily fortified silos in a matrix environment with shared resources and competing priorities; nature of the industry if you want to stay in business. Also very risk adverse; if you do not check all the customers' boxes for labor category requirements, years of experience unlikely encourage management to ask customers' consideration.
