Pros

A nice culture with good benefits and community. Company is very socially responsible. Great coworkers and HR department. It was nice to be part of a company as well known as LexisNexis. Good technology and customer service.

Cons

Very little product training provided. Risk Solutions is a clique-type group where the favorites get the best customers and the most support. Sales oversells and everyone else pays the price in having to support customers who have been given unrealistic expectations.

Pros

The pay and benefits are good. The Alpharetta office has a nice lunch room if you like to work through lunch. There are some really smart people to work with if you get lucky enough to find one. Fancy new office furniture is going in at the HQ.

Cons

There is no room for growth in the Finance department. If you want a promotion you have to be one of the CFO's or her direct report's favorite people. The interview process for internal positions is a joke, they already know who they want to hire/promote, it is just a formality. The Finance department can't decide what direction it wants to go and forget about process improvement. Since LN acquired ChoicePoint the processes and systems have gotten more complicated and almost everything we did took much longer. Get back to the basics and listen to the people that work for you.

Pros

Overall LexisNexis is a very good company to work for and very friendly engineering environment. Many knowledgeable peers with lots of experience and great life/work stories. - good working environment - very stable company - corporate environment - opportunity for growth - ability to work from home as need (with manager's approval) - work hours flexibility

Cons

- slow professional grows (not like in private sector) - slow innovations - stupidity is tolerated - significantly less brilliant people hold very senior engineering positions due to seniority in the company... - software developers get crappy dell computers with small monitors (shame on you LexisNexis)
