Pros

Good coworkers and job security are the only positives at this place. Pay is enough to get by, but the lowest of all competitors in the area. People leave here to go to competitors. Nobody comes to work for Lhoist from competitors in the area. That says alot. If you want a job with good job security and are willing to sacrifice work life balance, can work rotating shifts, and are willing to put up with some unnecessary internal politics, then it is ok I guess.

Cons

-Horrible Structural problems for non union salary workforce. -Pay makes no sense for salary personnel at the plant level. Job responsibilities, education requirements, and expectations do not match compensation. -HR department has too much power in hiring and internal placement and advancement, instead of plant and department leadership. Because of that, internal advancement and placement seems to be based more on politics than anything. People have and will get positions and promotions based on politics and diversity targets instead of who is the better fit for the role. -Company places too much value on degrees for non management salary positions. They will hire less experienced people with degrees and start them with higher pay, extra vacation etc, while not adequately rewarding proven, experienced, and dependable current performers without degrees. -People are treated and hired differently based on what is convenient for the company at the time. This means you will get vastly different compensation packages and requirements than coworkers, based on how desperate the company was at the time. This can be a slap in the face to current employees sometimes. -Higher than expected turnover because of all these negatives, which in turn causes alot of overtime due to covering shifts, and training new employees.

Pros

Pay was good, benefits good, vacation is OK- not the best. Nice HQ office. MOst poeple are nice. Some jobs get bonuses. Nice flexibility for sick days. Steady market commercially. Normally plenty of business travel.

Cons

Company does good job with managing external perceptions but has very old processes, systems, practices. Fair career progression and diversity levels are the lowest many have experienced, so it feels like lots of people leave & you feel the t3ension left behind. Seems like they blame workers a lot instead of giving them help with realistic workloads, tools, training, etc. The corporate meetings always have a profit focus and the company is heavily managed by European HQ. Also employees pay a big $ fine for chosing not to be vaccinated and theres little transprancy with corporate communication. With all jobs, I think everyone should dig beneath the surface and do research.
