Pros

Lightspeed's software is used in K-12 education around the world. That means no matter what product you're working on your providing a positive impact to students learning around the world.

Cons

Lightspeed's workload can feel seasonal. Schools tend to align to a similar schedule. Some years we end up working a bit more during the back to school seasons.

Pros

- some products provide great value to school IT groups - most individuals were great to work with - chance to work with unexpectedly high-scale applications - good place for recent graduates to get a little experience/disillusionment on their resume before inevitably moving on (by their choice or not) - donkeys at the Austin office are pretty chill

Cons

- revolving carousel of c-level hires made consistency of vision difficult - leadership likes to set last-minute arbitrary deadlines that require you to work on company holidays - plenty of capital for constant re-orgs, but rarely any for raises - change of focus to creating varying types of spyware masquerading as "safety" solutions is a bit soul crushing - meeting PE investor numbers seems to require almost-annual layoffs - senior staff not very receptive to ideas for improvement if they didn't come up with said ideas - internal promotions into non-IC roles almost nonexistent; rather hire from outside - parts of engineering seem to adhere to a "70% is a passing grade" mentality where quality is concerned
