Pros

The day-to-day life at Lightspeed is generally pretty good. Plenty of snacks and food, even enough to make for a halfway decent lunch. Realistic deadlines make for usually modest stress levels, although there is the occasional crunch time.

Cons

The pay at Lightspeed is insulting, offering salaries well below the market rate. Turnover is high, both with resignations and layoffs. Foreign investors bought a sizeable chunk of leadership in the company within the last year. A massive round of layoffs swept their staff in late 2019 to early 2020, wiping out much of their senior engineering personnel. It's a tough time to be a member of their team as of late, and I would be worried to be a Lightspeed customer. Don't work here. The dismal morale is not worth the degrading pay. Even as a temp job, your salary at Lightspeed will hurt your negotiations for another position. I would recommend Lightspeed for only the most desperate of people.

Pros

As a sales rep here, if you can build relationships, understand technology and are willing to travel a lot, you can make good money and it's easy to keep your customers happy with solid products. The people are cool and usually helpful as long as you catch on quick and don't keep asking the same questions over and over. Unlike everywhere else I've worked, the sales and marketing departments actually work together a lot and marketing will help you do things like custom email campaigns, events, notes to your customers - just about anything - without jumping through a bunch of hoops. That definitely helps with keeping your funnel full. And even though you're expected to work hard, everybody likes to have fun too. Beers on the road or on Friday afternoons in the office, nerf gun battles, that kind of thing.

Cons

Sometimes things move so quick it's hard to keep things straight. Generally you have a lot of balls to juggle, and it's on you to keep them all in the air.

Solid Company

Pros

Lightspeed is privately owned and the owners along with the upper management genuinely care about the employees. I have personally seen management decisions made with the employees in mind above company profits. There are also the obvious perks like lunch provided once a week, very well stocked kitchens, a casual dress code, a week off for Christmas, and a gym onsite. Wages are very competitive and the benefits are excellent compared to other companies this size. The culture at Lightspeed is laid back and supportive of work life balance.

Cons

Lightspeed is still a small company and in some cases lacks the structure and consistency a larger company would have. The environment is also politically charged in some departments which impedes the company's progress at times.
