Pros

Good people, experience, and management. The children are amazing. It's rewarding helping them with their reading. Good way to figure out if you would enjoy speech pathology or school psychology as a career without attending graduate school first

Cons

Yet, the organization pays clinicians (who work directly with the children) 1/7th of what parents pay for services....organization designs clinician role to be transitional with high burnout...people who are who more experienced with the program are not working most directly with the children , and those working directly with the children are less valued by the organization. Clinicians may or may not even have college degrees or experience in education/you are not paid more if you have experience in this area...parents paying for the program are certainly not aware of this….401k and healthcare benefits are also not great. High pressure trickles down from corporate related to sales goals...even though the staff do care about the children and their educational goals...there was too much emphasis on selling the intervention to the parents, and honestly not enough effort into assuring the intervention is being delivered with high fidelity. What works most about the intervention is its time intensity, but after working with this organization, I would recommend other evidence based reading interventions. Although this program does see results, and I believe generally accomplishes good for its clients.

Pros

Working one on one with a student.

Cons

Low wage. Inconsistent hours. Not enough hours. No hope of growth or advancement. Parents pay $20,000 for 15 weeks but the clinicians only make 20$ an hour! Workers have to accumulate sick hours at a very slow rate. It seem like I get one sick day every two months! You have to work on holidays.
