The walk equals the talk

Pros

They talk a lot of talk from leadership about an employee-focused culture and they also deliver. They treat employees as adults - you have tasks, we also want you to take initiative, and we trust you to work. Benefits are top-notch! Bureaucracy is at a minimum. And everyone is working hard for the mission.

Cons

Nothing so far - seriously! Not just trying to dodge the question.

Great place to work, but not to grow your career

Pros

Remote work, awesome benefits (unlimited PTO, fully covered health insurance, 401K match), lots of really smart and fun people. Opportunity to meet folks all across the tech industry and learn about different technologies.

Cons

Org has lots of growing pains, esp for an org that used to organizationally flat. Longer-standing employees are getting left behind with so many new hires coming in with fancy titles and no background in open source. No clear promotion path, mis-aligned titles and roles across the org, too much focus on LFX and not enough attention and resources going to the projects.

Beware, join at risk to your career and health

Pros

Benefits and pay are the best things about this place.

Cons

This is by far the worst place I have ever had the misfortune to work. I believe there are some great teams at the foundation, but the product team is not one of them. **DO NOT JOIN the product team!** If you're a product owner, software engineer, or quality engineer you're probably going to join that team. Run, just run. The management doesn't know what they're doing. Their way of motivating you is to threaten termination. It has become clear that Jim Zemlin is responsible for this toxic culture. He needs to be replaced or demoted. If you like late-night unscheduled calls, exclusively vague and negative feedback, a culture of distrust and backbiting, this is the place for you!
