Lively is a dynamic company

Pros

Lively hires the best people, and coworkers are amazing. It's a pleasure to "go to work". There are some opportunities for interesting product development work and to learn new software development techniques (especially using node/typescript). Management is receptive to feedback, and workload is fair (good WLB).

Cons

Professional development and collaboration are not supported, leading to coasting, burnout, turnover, and layoffs. These growing pains make it hard to convert professional relationships into productive work. Feedback through official channels is not helpful. Some work is not well communicated. Compensation did not keep up with the market (at least in my case).

Pros

You get to ACTUALLY build new products and features -- I've worked for other companies with in-house software teams, and a core frustration was that real innovation was a pipe dream. It was such a breath of fresh air to be able to launch so many new products and features, and we're not showing any signs of slowing down Ideas are welcomed -- the whole point of Lively is to disrupt the subpar status quo within a seemingly complacent industry. Lively's lean team makes it a great environment for sharing your ideas. Direct channels to leadership, including executives, are always open to everyone at anytime. You can make a real impact -- Lively is lean. Lively wants to disrupt. If you want to ensure the hours you spend working actually make a difference, as opposed to feeling like you're running on a hamster wheel, Lively is likely a good fit for you. High expectation of employees -- Some may argue this is a con. For me, it's a positive. Yes, you'll be expected to care, to be flexible, and to do good work. But so will everyone else. And working on a whole team of folks with that mindset is REALLY fun, with a lot of opportunities to be proud of the work you do together.

Cons

Not much to say here -- 401k match would be nice
