Pros

Specifically for the Audit Division: 1) Salaries (especially for auditors) is quite competitive when compared to similar positions in the private sector. 2) Educational incentives provided (at least for auditors, can't say about other divisions in this dept.) - Permanent salary increase awarded upon CPA, CIA, or CISA licensure. 3) Excellent work/life balance and 9/80 work schedules offered. 4) Colleagues were very nice people.

Cons

Specifically for the Audit Division: 1) Promotions past the intermediate level are heavily politics-based, as with most organizations. 2) As with ALL governmental organizations/departments, pay increases and/or promotions are very limited - if not frozen - during harsh economic times.
