Pros

Benefits, job security, wide variety of job classifications, departments and work facilitates are located in various cities throughout the County

Cons

Pay is less in comparison to private industry jobs; must pass civil service exam to be placed on a list to get a job and most lists have 50+ names; have witnessed bias and favoritism when it comes to appraisals of promotability (required as part of score for some exams); low morale in most departments amongst entry level and mid level staff

Pros

Great medical and retirement benefits.

Cons

Unfortunately the County of Los Angeles needs to get it together. Our facilities are so out dated and are falling apart. Our technology is from the 90's. It takes forever for issues to be addressed. I mean, I'm grateful to be employed but this list can go on and on.

Pros

Good wages and benefits, good environment to work under

Cons

No promotability once someone in management dislikes you for a perceived wrong reason. Retaliation is rampant and recourses just give you lip service
