Pros
I love working with the clients at our tiny house village. Our vibe at our location is very community oriented and purpose driven. Most everyone here appreciates staff and are personable. It's a great feeling to serve even the toughest of cases. Meals are served for clients and staff are welcome to them as well, and sometimes they're delicious! Several locations are in convenient commuter areas.
Cons
The pay will continue to ensure that you keep your low income housing...but that's not necessarily a positive. I'd rather be able to afford even a MFTE unit at a market rate apartment building, but if you have a dependent family, that's not possible on the current pay rate for this job in the city of Seattle. The job can be difficult and emotionally taxing. If you don't have yourself together and remind yourself to take your vacation days and sick days when you're sick, you will eventually feel the weight of the trauma of other folks here. Even if you love working with them, you get social work burnout eventually. It happens to even the most experienced and caring of us.
