Wasted opportunities due to horrible culture and environment

Pros

The product is cool, and I have learned a lot over the years. There are some decent people there, and very talented, but the good people are all slowly leaving.

Cons

It's hard to summarize how bad it was because there's so much to say, so I'll try and be concise. - nepotism and favoritism: multiple occurrences of couples working in the same team, leading to obvious conflicts of interest. - reported my manager to HR and got gaslit and no action was taken and I was told it was my issue instead. The manager had at least 5 complaints against them but HR does not care, all they want is to stifle complaint. - serious culture and harassment issues throughout the company, at least within body engineering and software. I've heard of issues at the factory but I was not close to that so can't comment much. - The CEO is also CTO, which is a clear conflict, and is able to make decisions that have a huge negative impact and risk in the company, because he wants to change something at the last minute. - the stock is worth nothing and most people in the company got fucked over with income taxes and AMT, unless you were in the lucky few in leadership, allowed to sell during blackout perioe when the stock was $50 (it's now $7). - serious quality issues caused by politics. I was instructed by my manager to let something fail after warning it could prevent compliance, and to blame another team. - no work life balance and no respect for boundaries. - engineers have been repeatedly told to come work 24/7 even though this is not legal in California. - many people are miserable but are made to feel they have no choice and should be lucky to be here. Many are stuck for visa reasons.

Pros

The team I work with is awesome, really intelligent hardworking people. Some of the technologies are state of the art and I learn a lot.

Cons

I don’t like the company culture, I find management all over the place and very restrictive on flexibility as a software person. Seems like upper management has no idea what they’re doing in terms of deliverables and requirements also.
