Pros

Genuinely enjoy the day-to-day operations. League bowlers become like family. Opportunity to build a team and develop high performers.

Cons

The micromanagement from upper management is out of control. Growth opportunities are limited for traditional centers. Limited opportunity to grow the business to its full potential due to the lack of investment in the center. Work-life balance is poor due to the lack of a manager headcount. Manager turnover rate is high.

Pros

Fun and dynamic environment Salary is pretty competitive for the field Really affordable health/vision/dental benefits Opportunity to learn a variety of skills

Cons

Not a lot of room for advancement (hardly ever promote from within. Always hiring a manager from outside that YOU will have to train to be your boss) Aggressive pressure from upper management (DM, RVP, etc.) to not just meet but exceed KPIs each period Necessary renovations are rejected so newer locations can be built/remodeled (safety hazard in my location has been rejected for repairs for years, yet newer ones are being renovated/re-branded every month) Raises are few and far between Job descriptions list salaried managers at 40 hours per week, but 48 is actually the expected minimum Constantly understaffed because pay scale for hourly positions is WAY under similar jobs
