Nepotism, inexperience, poor leadership

Pros

Smart, competent, and high-integrity employees from the legacy companies (Qwest, Embarq), but people are getting fed up with the nepotism and unfairness and they are leaving.

Cons

Rampant nepotism in hiring, particularly in Monroe. It's not about merit, experience or competency but about who you know and who you're related to. This is job welfare at it's worst. The corporate strategy is about growing jobs in Louisiana and filling them with warm bodies to the detriment of growth and innovation. Very poor leadership at the VP and Director levels, slow decision making, unethical hiring practices and questionable integrity.

Pros

ZERO there are absolutely no good things about working for this company unless you like to wallow in the filth

Cons

They make up the rules as they go to benefit the company. They don't care about employees, even long term employees and they are so arrogant they think that they can get away with anything. The "unifying principle" they tout as being their guide posts are at best a a distraction to buy them time while they benefit from your hard work then refuse to pay you for it, hiding behind a "process" they just made up so they could steal your money. No I'm not bitter. They took a commission check I earned and met every stipulation to earn, that represented life changing events to my family and on a whim decided it was too much and not to pay me. Let me wait for 4 months on the vp's word I would get paid, then sent me a nasty email saying they denied my compensation and I could arbitrate if I wanted to. That's' Centurylink's version of caring for their employees. Stay away, far away. 15 years later at 53, after working hard to do the right thing for my company I get this and now I have a hard time looking myself in the eye for going back, but you have to have a job and until I can find one I'm stuck there.. Not easy at 53.

Pros

-Work from home most people I know are fully remote -Unlimited paid time off

Cons

- Compensation far below competitors, no stock options, no merit increases, inflation increases, etc. Everyone I know has been stuck at the same pay rate for many years. - Enthusiasm gap between senior leadership team and individual contributors is so large we must be living on different planets. - No opportunities for growth, you will be stuck in the same role making the same money for the entire time you are with Lumen. - Annual reductions in force is the standard practice. - Impossible sales and retention targets. - Constant strategy pivots driven by whatever consultants are contracted at the time.
