It's a great place to work.

Pros

A very lax, open work environment; casual atmosphere with respectful management; plenty of room for advancement with a very promotion-from-within corporate ladder

Cons

Compensation could be a bit better for the type of work being done; the company isn't always the fastest in dealing with personnel management (it took me nearly two months to get hired on officially, having worked there for half a year)

Pros

Benefits because of CWA Union (Could change in September 2012 when CenturyLink renegotiates with CWA. Expecting many benefits to disappear. Pension more than likely to be gone as well as paying college tuition regardless of the major or class you take. Health benefits will likely increase in price as well. No working on weekends. Location in the heart of Salt Lake City is nice.

Cons

Hard core sales objectives. Hit 90% every month or your out the door. The strictest attendance policy I've ever seen. 5 tardies within a year and your canned. Also taking a day off doesn't exist unless you have paid time off and also there is availability to take day off. Constant rumors of possible shutdown of Salt Lake location. No clear idea where the company is heading or what the company vision is. As more and more people use cell phones, land line usage continues to drop. This could be the very reason why CenturyLink doesn't make it long term. Long term future is bleak. Management suggests that selling is more important than customer service. Customers are treated the same way the employees are. Employees dodge spending too much time with customers to resolve their problem because of the constant worry of hitting sales objectives.

Pros

Benefits Good and support roles fine--sales roles are like a rotating door.

Cons

Describe job as one where they give you a base of accounts & you're to build--base of accounts were non-existent. Didn't receive existing customers until 3 months into job & then they were ones that we had just lost business to or never could win over. Mgr also was breaking into my accounts even after they were defined to systems as mine. Worked 3 huge opportunities but they wouldn't close in early enough time for me to keep job--competitor always offering huge bonuses for business to stay with them. Went into the office every day & worked 8-10 hours per day either calling on customers or going out to meet customers--very hard to get them to allow without prior relationship.
