Working here was one of the worst experiences of my work life.

Pros

Good salary and benefits. Some good employees (but also some horrible ones). Downtown location. Evidence that this used to be a great company to work for. Some good systems and processes in place.

Cons

Poor IT management and leadership. Outsourcing to non-US and non-EU countries more and more comment. Demands on employees can be extremely high and management doesn't care if you work yourself to exhaustion. Some excellent talent left the company because of overall poor working conditions and lack of support from mid-and executive level management.

We do get a 6% 401k match and a 5% pension. Decent money per hour

Cons

Supervisors are scared of management. managers are scared of higher management. This all rolls down hill on the hourly. Channelview plant manager leads by fear instead of real leadership. They are always telling us to be industry leaders but they keep us at 60% of Industry pay. Not much in career opportunities outside of what I do already.

Pros

The pay is good and even better when you work lots and lots of overtime. There have been some great leaders in this company with progressive ideas and open doors. However,

Cons

The talented management has been pushed aside for the "yes" guys and the morale of the company has nose-dived. HR is non-existent, Senior Management makes empty promises and the majority of the employees are scratching their heads wondering where it's all going.... Middle Management is moved every two years to advance their careers leaving the lower ranks having to prove themselves over and over. These guys are trying to Micromanage when they don't have a clue about the processes. There are a lot of comments here from Engineers and other work groups but not many from the Technicians who are really driving the bus.
