Pros

Benefits and pay is competitive in the industry.

Cons

Too much emphasis placed on quarterly reviews of your personal development. You are expected to spend incredible amounts of time creating phony safety data, Your concerns fall on deaf ears or get buried p the ladder. Supervisors and managers are pencil pushers who know little about their underlings and their jobs.

Pros

Great peers to surround yourself with.

Cons

Don't believe them if they say you will be based in Akron if you are hired at the location that used to be A. Schulman. They were acquired by LyondellBasell, a Houston chemical company. You will be moved to Houston or separated from the company in Q3 2019. I started very recently and shortly after I started they told me I would be moved to Houston if I wanted to stay. This was directly after they told me in my interview that I would be based in Akron. Stay far away unless you are interested in moving.

Pros

Everyone in my department (Procurement) was extremely friendly, helping, and welcoming. My managers constantly went out of their way to help me succeed, whether that was taking time out of their schedule to meet with me 1 on 1, or staying late in the office with me to help me meet a deadline. They clearly care about you and want you to succeed.

Cons

Some departments don't get along. For example, the Procurement department and the Supply Chain department have palpable tension between them. Even though they are in the same building and only a few floors apart, I was shocked by my experience. I was discouraged by my coworkers from networking with people in Supply Chain, and I when I had to work with people from Supply Chain, I was specifically told by my coworkers in Procurement to not offer any help or advice, so that my results surpassed theirs. This would constantly nag at my conscience and it made work very unenjoyable.
