Pros

Select teams can be good.

Cons

Company devoted the majority of resources into the optical business and neglected much of their traditional RF and microwave business. The nature of optical is cyclical, and the recent slowdown from China severely affected the bottom line and stock price. Very political company, and due to neglect other business areas are stagnant and/or in decline. There was a culture of competition instead of cooperation between different sites, wasting valuable company time and resources. Upper management hired former executives from places such as Hittite, and the only strategy was to copy products instead of innovating while ignoring inputs and suggestions from the engineers. There was fundamental disrespect from the management towards engineering. From dinner conversations, upper management and sales only wanted their stock prices to go up in the short term so they can retire comfortably, since they are all around retirement age anyway. They were extremely wasteful with company money and had an old-boys-club attitude. This all resulted in chasing acquisitions and inorganic growth with complete disregard for many of the best engineers in the industry that they hired in years prior. Such a waste of time and talent.

We very much appreciate your feedback. As with any publicly traded organization, the company has many stakeholders on its road to success, along with a field of competitors which presents both opportunities and challenges alike. There are many factors that compete in running a successful business and bringing value to each stakeholder - from economic to political to social to world events. As an organization, we continue to evolve and grow whether organically or by acquisition, building on the company's past successes to open the road to current and future opportunities that will benefit each of our stakeholders.

Pros

They provided a good welcome reception when they acquired my previous employer.

Cons

MACOM acquired my previous employer. They proceeded to reduce funds for further development and remove all future stock and bonus compensation. When they decided to sell off a business unit they struggled to complete a deal in a timely manner, attempting to nickel and dime the purchaser and took a hands-off approach to communicating with them team.

Pros

A paycheck! Cafeteria, free parking. Free bathroom (20 word min here)

Cons

Small cubes no windows, no direction. Interns are treated much nicer lookout if you plan to come on board. So depressing. Management is clueless . A lot of self important people with no consideration for the real workers . They spend far too much time in meetings and private lunches.
