Pros

A decent benefits package is offered although each year the medical insurance costs are going up along with deductibles. Used to be A LOT better coverage offered at a much better cost.

Cons

They say they are committed to employee retention and then will make sure that no one makes a career out of their position on a contract. They talk about competitive salaries. That may be so at time of hire but when it comes to annual performance evaluations, you're lucky to get a 1% pay increase even with an excellent evaluation. Moving up the ladder is also difficult. You can be qualified to do and train someone to do the job above yours but you are not qualified to be promoted so that you actually get paid for that job.

The horror that is ManTech!

Pros

HAHA! Pros? There are none! Okay, it’s a paycheck. However, I would recommend selling all your belongings, your blood/plasma, sperm/eggs, and organs on the black market first … if, and ONLY if you still are desperate for some cash should you then accept a job offer here!

Cons

Well, you work here. That’s definitely a con! You’ll work on antiquated equipment, with zero support when there are issues. They use PeopleSoft, and think doing so keeps them competitive! (HA!) You’ll get an excellent review by your supervisor, only for it to be shot down by management. Your overall review will remain “excellent,” and to thank you for all your hard work, you’ll receive a 1% raise! Awesome! Management, for my department, is a team of buffoons. They only care about one side of the company (MSS), and those that support the other (MCIS) are worthless to them. Rumor has it they give a larger portion of the raises to the MSS side, too! You will NOT be given any path for career advancement, no matter how many times you ask. Unless, of course, they go through a large round of people fleeing, then to show they “promote from within” they’ll pick a handful of lucky people to pull up in the ranks. Almost like winning the lottery. But, not a lottery you should want to win. (Trust me, they are NOT doing this for the employees’ betterment.) Some senior employees do not do their fair share of work, while the majority of the mid-level employees do the bulk of the work. Don’t worry, you have that 1% raise to look forward to remember?

As far as govt contracting goes, it's not bad

Pros

Pay, mobility program, tuition assistance, and management are decent. They seem to care about their employees as much as any large contractor can.

Cons

Benefits costs aren't great, but they're also not entirely different from most companies. Leave accrual is not great, and they recently took a day off of it by merging sick and PTO together.
