Pros

Great team morale, positive colleagues, great benefits

Cons

Does not pay a (Houston) living wage even if you have a college degree and you can't negotiate salary because "if they raise yours then they have to raise everyone else's."

Pros

One day of working from home

Cons

It is hard to know where to start. Management talks a good game to your face but at the end of the day, they don't care about your thoughts on how to improve the department. What is wild is that they ask for feedback and then they don't do anything with it! People are leaving left and right and we are constantly getting new people. We can't trust what our managers say because we have been lied to several times about really small things. There is no effort to address racism or xenophobia in the department and when this is brought up in a meeting, managers are silent. It is obvious that they are uncomfortable addressing these topics but our BIPOC staff are leaving in droves with no change in sight. Our managers pit us against each other also. They talk about other employees to us and warn us from associating with certain people who are at the bottom of their list. If you speak out and share your opinion, you are automatically blacklisted EVEN THOUGH THEY ASK FOR FEEDBACK. It is the most gaslighting, toxic workplace that I have ever been part of and that really sucks because it used to be wonderful before the current associate director took over. I have watched the department go downhill ever since and it is sad and disappointing all at once.

Pros

Benefits are good. Annual bonus

Cons

Nepotism all the way. HRs are dreadfully slow. Nothing ever gets on time. If you know someone you can get the work done. Most faculty who work there would not be hired anywhere else. they are that bad. Looks good on the outside but once you work for them you realize how pathetic everything is
