Pros

Opportunity to collaborate and meet diversified and talented people from all over the world. Good company benefits, and campus fitness center. Great social scene in Pickens Tower, Main Hospital, and Duncan building, very isolated in others. Training and online education is available.

Cons

Management of departments is full of young inexperienced managers straight out of MBA school who have no concept of the operations of a large hospital or clinic. Blind trying to lead the blind. Experienced employees are devalued and underutilized in favor of lower salaries and inexperienced beginners. Top management are disconnected and have no idea what teams under them are doing. Too many meetings and too many departments that do the same thing. Left does not know what right does. Cronyism, backstabbing, favoritism, blackballing. Your opinion is asked for, but met surprisingly by a silent stone wall. Choose and move carefully or goodbye career progression.

Pros

Good benefits... that about it....

Cons

Do not plan to join if you have any self respect and think you can have a normal life. You are expected to work overtime if you are not hourly employee and do not receive any additional pay. If you disagree with your boss, there are some very strange , very old internal policies based on some old MDA culture and traditions that will lead to your resignation (no unemployment) . Just like in an old conspiracy movies you will find yourself in a surreal situation where everyone is against you and HR, your boss and administration is doing everything to push you out! Never speak out against your boss, just quit if you do not like it. They employ pure illegal practices!

Pros

Competitive-to-great pay; excellent benefits; on-site gyms, coffee shops, restaurants; beautiful facilities. I have the best coworkers I've ever had. Smart, driven, funny, and hard working. Interesting problems to solve and cool people to solve them with. The feeling of mission -destroying cancer- is very real and something that brings a lot of highly motivated people to work here.

Cons

Your experience will vary a lot depending on which group you land in. Some are tremendously "vertical" and dictatorial, some are much more relaxed. There is also a lot of bureaucracy, as in many 20,000+ person organizations. Work/life balance will also depend heavily on your department. I've had a great career so far, but advancement/promotion opportunities are scarce.
