Pros

Great Benefits, because It is a state hospital. Usually great co workers and very nice facility in the newer inpatient building. Most of my graduate degree was payed for through theircohort program. Many opportunities for career advancement.

Cons

Started of a few years ago with relatively low salary as a new graduate nurse compared to that of hospitals nearby, St Lukes, Methodist, etc. But there are usually salary increases just about every year. Units can be frequently short staffed and you may be without a nursing assistant and end up with extra work load.

Pros

Okay benefits, flexible work times when in the scientific areas.

Cons

Poorly paid for regular workers in the research areas. Nearly everyone in the Texas Medical Center goes through MDAnderson, and the reason they move on is that inevitably there is a better offer if you are a research assistant or some kind of tech. They support trickle down economics, and it just never trickles down enough.

Pros

-The company culture. -The beautiful buildings and amenities. -Some of the upper management staff. -Conveniency of having cafeterias and gyms in their buildings.

Cons

-Very low salary for those in research who are not MDs. -Parking --> expect to pay about $80 a month to park far, and have to take the shuttle to your work building. -In some departments the section leaders are BIG on micromanaging. -Low promotion/growth prospect; static routine.
