Feeling Down

Pros

Good mission, good work, love my teammates

Cons

Feeling really resentful about the loss of my paid time off - (company spin is that it's more equitable and thus positive). Every bit of company spending feels like it comes from my lost vacation time. It's summer and I had to waste many days for illness. It's a real betrayal. Now, if you can believe it, we just lost our garbage cans (company spin is that it's better for the environment and thus positive)! Was it really necessary to actually take away the garbage cans? Someone, somewhere, is going to have to puke and it's not going to be pretty. I used to love coming to work, but not so much anymore. My morale has hit rock bottom. Considering leaving after over 20 years because I deserve better. Current executive leadership is so awful beyond the pale that it's hard to ignore.

Pros

Meaningful work, GREAT colleagues, visibility into many programs, access across the government. A lot of opportunity to pursue your interests and build the career you want.

Cons

The reviews here sum it up. So many employees don't come to Glassdoor to air their grievances if things are going well. MITRE was once a great company, and the current leadership is slowly degrading everything that MITRE built its brand and reputation on in the past. It could get better if leadership turns over, but I don't see improvements in sight when the leadership points their fingers at the employees as the problem. So many of our best people are leaving, and it already has impacted our customer work. Morale is at an all time low, and each time another good person leaves it is another shot to the heart.

Pros

My peers are smart and enjoyable to work with. Work life balance is nice, no push to work more than 80 per period. Great Department Management.

Cons

Cuts to benefits such as continue. Business systems/ business transformation is a failure. Lack of adequate financial tracking led to overrunning corporate overhead last year. Extremely poor communication from the entire C suite. The CEO is extremely condescending and rude, even in all hands company meetings. Jason, if you're reading this, if you weren't the CEO people would be reporting you to HR right and left for the way you talk to others. Fix your behavior. C Suite, especially CEO, continues to push and pursue work agenda that is polarizing, partisan, and detracts from the work we try to do. Company is not diverse and does leadership does not support diversity of thought. Considers diversity to mean gender identities and skin color. C Suite lies to employees and/or gas lights the workforce (we cut your benefits because it's the best thing for you) Leadership has been gutted, rebuilt, and replaced with yes men that agree with the CEO. Leadership has gutted IT, Finance, Travel functions so that any sort of auxillary support you need is very painful. The company is entirely campus focused. If you are working from a site, get accustomed to being a third class citizen. It is very painful for me to see what this company has become, knowing what we once were.
